A. In the United States, it's basically the grade levels of 6th-8th grades. That usually encompasses the ages of ~12-14 years old (give or take one year). One semester of a foreign language is a requirement for middle school (at least it was at my school) and I chose Spanish for mine (the only other choice available was German).
